About asset reporting in Performance Max

The asset report lists each asset used in a Performance Max campaign and allows you to compare performance across a variety of assets. Over time, you'll be able to make strategic decisions about your assets, such as which ones to rotate, remove, or improve. This report helps you focus on creating assets that deliver better performance. It also gives you an indication of when to create new assets that drive better performance based on similar assets.

Before you begin

You’ll need to set up a Performance Max campaign to view your asset report. Learn more About Performance Max campaigns.

How it works

Asset reporting allows you to check how your assets are performing at multiple levels: as a single asset, an asset group, a campaign, or across several campaigns at the same time.

This article provides a high-level overview of asset-level reporting. Refer to the related articles to learn more about asset-level metrics and asset group reporting.

Tip: You can view information about the creation and modification dates of your assets on the “Assets” page from the "Used since" column. This column shows the date an asset was added to your account, campaign, ad group, or asset group. With these details, you can identify assets that may need refreshing. This column also shows the date an asset was removed or paused.

Asset reporting for your Performance Max campaigns

To review the performance of all assets within a Performance Max campaign or across all Performance Max campaigns, follow these instructions:

  1. In your Google Ads account, select Assets from the “Campaigns” menu.
  2. From the “Assets” drop-down menu, select Assets.

If you want to view assets for only a single Performance Max campaign, you can select that campaign from the Campaigns dropdown located at the top of the page.

Evaluating individual asset performance

Detailed performance metrics are also available at the individual asset level, for both user-uploaded assets and assets created with text customization. Learn more About asset-level metrics.
