Get started with the NotebookLM mobile app

Our early version of the NotebookLM mobile app includes many core features of NotebookLM and is designed to help you understand anything, anywhere. With the app, you can:

• Get insights in the moment by asking questions about your sources.
• Listen to Audio Overviews on the go and download them for offline playback.
• Share content directly to NotebookLM when viewing a website, PDF, or YouTube video on your device.

Device Requirements

On Android, the NotebookLM mobile app is available on phones and tablets, running Android 10 and up.

How to download the NotebookLM mobile app

1. On your phone or tablet.
   1. Visit this link in your default browser. 
   2. You can also open the Play Store on your mobile device and search for "NotebookLM."
2. Select the official NotebookLM app.
3. Tap Install.

How to use the NotebookLM mobile app

1. On your device, open the NotebookLM mobile app.
2. Open a notebook.
   • To create a new notebook, select Create New.
   • You can also select an existing notebook under Recent, Shared, Title, or Downloaded.
3. To add a source, select PDF, Website, YouTube, or Copied Text.
   • While browsing a website, PDF, or YouTube video, you can tap the share icon and select NotebookLM to add it as a new source to an existing notebook.
4. To start collaborating with NotebookLM:
   • The “Chat” panel displays a generated summary of all your sources. You can ask questions about your sources or give instructions to perform actions. Learn more about chats.
   • Generate an Audio Overview in the “Studio” panel. Audio Overview will be generated using your device language. You will not be able to customize your audio using prompts or other configurations. Learn more about Audio Overviews.

Important:

• Chat responses and Audio Overviews, including voices, are AI-generated and may contain inaccuracies or audio glitches.
• NotebookLM may take a couple of minutes to generate or start playing Audio Overviews.

Manage your Audio Overview:

• When the Audio Overview is playing, you can play or pause the audio, skip forwards or backwards, or change the playback speed. You can also listen to Audio Overviews in the background by navigating to other apps or turning off your phone display.
• Select Download to download the audio for offline access. You can find your downloaded audios in the Downloaded section on the main page of the app.
• Join a conversation and interact with the AI hosts with Interactive Mode (Beta). Learn about Interactive Mode.
• You can select share to generate a public share link.

Important:

• Public sharing is only enabled for consumer accounts. It's currently disabled for Workspace or Workspace for Education accounts.
• Only notebook owners and editors can generate a public share link for the generated audio and manage its public access. As an owner or editor, you can turn off Public access in the sharing panel.
• Once an audio is deleted or regenerated, any previously generated public share link will no longer work.

Limited features in the NotebookLM mobile app

Tip: For the full NotebookLM experience, it's recommended you use the desktop version. If you have any feedback or feature requests, please report feedback or join our Discord.

• Only PDF, Website, YouTube, or Copied Text are supported as source types. We’ll be adding new input types over time.
• All sources will be used. You can't include or exclude certain sources the model uses to answer your question.
• Chat configurations and chat analytics are not supported.
• Generating and viewing notes, mind maps, FAQs, study guides, timelines, or briefing documents is not yet available.
• You won't be able to share notebooks publicly or privately from the app.
• Audio overviews can be downloaded for offline access but cannot be downloaded as a file to your device.
• Audio Overview will be generated using your device language unless you have set the language override on the web. You will not be able to customize your audio using prompts or other configurations.
• Light and dark modes are available. At this time, the color scheme will match your device settings.
• At times, syncing between devices may be delayed. If you are experiencing syncing issues, quit the mobile app and relaunch.
